Top Canadian Dollar Online Sportsbooks

There are dozens of online sportsbooks ready to take your bet if you live in Canada.  But as a Canadian, it only makes sense that you'd want to find use a sportsbook that accepts Canadian Dollar deposits and allows you to make bets from your Canadian Dollar account.

Most of these online betting services only allow you to make bets in other currencies like the US Dollar, the British Pound or the Euro.  This would mean that your Canadian Dollar deposit would need to be converted to buy a balance in one of these currencies.  Built into this currency conversion is a fee that goes to your bank, credit card company or whomever makes the conversion. You will never see the exact fee because the exchange house simply sells you the new funds at a markup of the exchange rate at the time of your transaction. This fee will be as much as 5% of the value of your deposit.  You will avoid this fee when you fund your account to a Canadian Dollar  sportsbook site.

Furthermore, if you need to convert back to Canadian Dollars when you withdraw your winnings, you will face the same fee approaching 5%, plus you may be exposed to losses due to currency fluctuation if the value of the Canadian Dollar rose against your chosen betting currency.  When you choose to play with Canadian Dollar sportsbooks like those that I list, you'll keep more of your own money.

Here's an example of why you should bet in Canadian Dollars:

Let's say you're going to deposit $1,000 CAD.  If you have to convert to another currency, the actual value of your deposit will be be reduced due to the currency exchange fee.  At 5%, your actual deposit will be worth $950. Let's say you play for a few months, you’re about even and you want to withdraw your funds, but the value of the Canadian dollar has gone up 10% against your betting currency.  When you make the exchange, you'll have lost a further $95 - now you're down to about $850.  But wait, the currency exchange fee to get back to Canadian funds will be another 5% which would further reduce your overall deposit down to just over $800.  When you bet in currencies other than the Canadian Dollar, you could lose nearly 20% of your initial deposit simply due to the complications of currency exchange.

The choice is clear. Keep things simple - bet in CAD to save your hard-earned money for your enjoyment.

About My Sportsbook List:

If I researched 20 international sportsbook brands, and 17 of them don’t measure up from my Canadian perspective, do you need to know about the 17? Would you read all 20 reviews and then sign up with the 15th best site?  Of course not!  Simple is best.

Why might I reject a certain site?  Poor payout record like withholding player funds or limiting bets of winning players, not offering CAD wagering, or not offering mobile betting.

That’s why I only list the best sportsbooks for Canadians.  Other sites make you read a massive list and give phoney grades or ratings. Each site I list gets a checkmark for my review criteria, but they are each different in their offerings.  Read the reviews and choose based on your own preferences and requirements, not a bogus rating scheme or star ratings.
